150 metres from the main house, within a walled plot with 3.5 hectares, is the old caretakers’ lodge, which has been restored for wine tourism and other events.

Wine tourism is a growing trend but that is not the reason why we invested in this activity. It came about naturally for “wine has flowed” in our veins for several generations. "I remember well the times when wine was made in the family properties. I myself have continued this tradition…"

In addition to our wine-producing property called Quinta dos Urgais, in the parish of Souto, municipality of Penedono, we also have quintas in the Douro Demarcated Region, one in the parish of Vila Marim, municipality of Mesão Frio, and the other in the parish of Valdigem, municipality of Lamego. “Here in these two quintas we store the old port wines in pipes, casks and vats in the traditional style of the region”.

To drink an excellent wine with the local cooking is a traditional and cultural act which for that very reason should be shared and preserved.
